When words feel impossible, Pastor Owen helps your family find them — weaving together a service that truly reflects the one you loved.
The Pastor
Reverend Owen Skinner has served as Senior Pastor of Tucker First United Methodist Church for over 28 years, building a ministry deeply rooted in presence — especially during life's hardest moments.
Over his 28 years in pastoral ministry, Owen has sat with hundreds of grieving families across the metro Atlanta area. He approaches each conversation not as a formality, but as a genuine act of listening — gathering the details, the memories, and the laughter that make a life irreplaceable.
The result is a service that feels personal, not generic. One that reflects the full and real humanity of the person being celebrated.
"People often tell me afterward that it felt like I'd known their loved one for years. That's the goal — to make sure every story worth telling gets told."
How I Can Help
No two services are the same, because no two lives are the same. Pastor Owen shapes each ceremony around the person being honored — not a template.
A full service held in a chapel or funeral home, complete with a personalized eulogy, chosen scripture, music, and an open time for family and friends to share their remembrances.
A quiet, intimate ceremony at the graveside — words of comfort, a reading or prayer, and a moment of stillness to say goodbye in the place your loved one will rest.
A service that leans into joy as much as grief — honoring who your loved one truly was through laughter, story, music, and faith. Often held weeks after the funeral, at any location.
Kind Words
He had only known our family for three days, yet when he stood up and spoke about our mother, it was as if he had known her his whole life. He captured her perfectly.
In 42 years as a funeral director, I've worked alongside many clergy. None of them bring the same combination of genuine compassion, preparation, and God-given talent that Owen Skinner does. He is, without question, the first person I call.
Compensation
An honorarium is a voluntary gift of gratitude for Pastor Owen's time, preparation, and presence. It covers the family meetings, crafting of the eulogy and service order, and leading the ceremony itself — whether that's a chapel service, graveside gathering, or both.
Most families offer between $200 and $500, though this is entirely at your discretion and based on the scope of Pastor Owen's involvement. There is no set fee and no invoice — simply give what feels right to your family, when the time feels right.
For services held more than 30 miles outside the Tucker area or in another state, Pastor Owen will discuss travel arrangements with the family in advance of the service.
You can send an honorarium securely through PayPal — at whatever time feels right for your family.
